En el ámbito de la gestión de costos, la direccionalidad es un concepto clave que se refiere a la relación entre los factores (insumos) y los productos en los procesos de producción.
Es decir, cómo se pueden vincular de forma inequívoca los costos de los factores con los productos obtenidos al final del proceso.
La direccionalidad se puede abordar según tres tipos de procesos: simples, múltiples conexos y múltiples alternativos.
En los procesos simples, los factores se pueden vincular en forma unívoca con el único producto obtenido.
Por lo tanto, todos los factores son directos. En cambio, en los procesos múltiples conexos, ningún factor puede ser vinculado de forma unívoca con alguno de los productos surgidos del proceso, por lo que todos los factores son indirectos.
Por último, en los procesos múltiples alternativos, los factores consumidos en las acciones mediatas presentan más dificultades para ser vinculados en forma inequívoca y exclusiva con los productos finales.
En este tipo de procesos, los factores pueden ser directos o indirectos,
dependiendo de la modalidad de medición y del tipo de acción en la que se consuman.
La identificación correcta de los costos directos e indirectos es esencial para la gestión eficiente de los costos en los procesos de producción.
Los costos directos se vinculan de forma inequívoca con el producto final, mientras que los costos indirectos no tienen una vinculación directa y requieren de una asignación más compleja.
La medición efectiva de consumo de factor y de servicios al producto es esencial para determinar si un factor es directo o indirecto en los procesos de producción.
En conclusión, entender la direccionalidad en los procesos de producción es fundamental para una gestión adecuada de los costos y una toma de decisiones eficiente.
La identificación correcta de los costos directos e indirectos puede ayudar a mejorar la rentabilidad y competitividad de una empresa en un mercado cada vez más exigente.
